Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Announced Tuesday that it will reduce its global production plan by about 100,000 vehicles to 850,000 in June due to a shortage of semiconductors.
The company did not change its estimates for the production of some 9.7 million cars worldwide by March 2023.
The company reported further suspension of its domestic manufacturing lines due to supply shortages caused by the closure of Covid-19 in Shanghai.
The suspension will affect a total of 16 lines at 10 factories in May and June.
Toyota said it plans to produce an average of 850,000 cars worldwide per month from June to August, adding that chip shortages, the Covid-19 outbreak and other factors "make it difficult to look to the future
